Spain remains a property hotspot despite problems

12th June 2007: Costa de la Luz Property News

The latest ‘Hotspots Report’ from currency exchange, HiFX, shows that 27% of all enquiries relating to people buying abroad concern Spanish property – which is good news for everyone involved. While some areas of the Spanish Costas are certainly cooling and seeing market corrections due to over-supply, less traditional regions are becoming more popular.

“We’ve seen a big increase in property prices and values in some areas of Spain over the last 20 years. There should be no surprises in a market correction whenever it occurs; supply has out-stripped demand in certain areas at the moment and marketforces will probably dictate values over the next year or two in those places.

“However, it is very important to note that only certain areas are suffering a slump due to over supply, whilst others still have much to offer.”

Coastal regions such as Huelva (Costa de la Luz),Tarragona, and inland areas like Jaen and Cordoba, still provide excellent value. In Barcelona, property prices are rising at their fastest pace ever.
