Huelva set to be Spain’s next property hotspot

6th March 2008: Costa de la Luz Property News

Following last month’s news of the approval for a new international airport in Huelva, it is now being said that this region of Costa de la Luz, the ‘Spanish Algarve’, could be Spain’s best investment.

When the airport opens in 2012, the current 40 min drive across the border from Faro airport, on the Algarve, will be reduced to just 15 mins.

Today, there are many investment opportunities here and over the last few years, several brand new golf courses and resorts have sprung up. However, the improving infrastructure does not mean that Huelva will become over-built; under Government rules, over 30 per cent of the province's countryside is protected from construction, a higher proportion than in any other region of Spain.

As well as the new airport, a high-speed AVE train service (scheduled to open in 2008) linking Huelva to Seville, will boost the area’s tourism and demand for property.
