Still high demand for rental property in Spain

Growing tourism in Spain is likely to push up demand for rental accommodation among holidaymakers.

Thomson Financial reports that 3.3 million people visited the European country in February - 6.5% more than in 2007. Overall figures for 2008 are also up on the previous year.

The news that an international airport is to be created in Huelva will mean an increase in visitor numbers and has triggered lots of interest among prospective buyers. It has also raised expectations that Huelva's property market could be set to see a period of high growth.

According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, house prices in Spain went up by three per cent last year.
