Algarve's regeneration programme gathers pace

30th June 2008: Algarve Property News

The largest ever urban development programme in the Algarve has been unveiled by Vilamoura’s master developer.

It was announced that in 2009 they will start construction work on the eighth and final phase of Vilamoura XXI. Plans for this €750m development include the construction of a new project named Cidade Lacustre, which will include 900 hectares of residential, commercial and leisure space. There will be 2,490 residential properties, 200 new moorings, leisure areas, luxury hotels, athletic facilities, shopping centres, restaurants and spas on site.

These exciting plans will boost property prices in Vilamoura, which remain considerably cheaper than neighbouring Quinta Do Lago.

The programme signifies one of the largest examples of urban development undertaken in the Algarve and as such, it represents an excellent opportunity for investment in the area. The potential of the Algarve and Vilamoura as worldwide destinations for tourism and second homes, will receive a huge boost from these plans. Existing developments that are currently nearing completion will provide an excellent opportunity for potential purchasers to buy in an expanding resort.
