Costa de la Luz receives tourism boost

11th February 2009: Costa de la Luz Property News

Tour operators TUI, Thomas Cook, Rewe and TSS, which together carry 50 million tourists per year, have recently made a deal with the Autonomous Government of Andalucia today to promote tourism to the region and especially the Costa de la Luz.

According to TUI’s German Marketing Director, Kai Schelowsky, the Costa de la Luz has a 'great potential for growth in the future'.

The agreement, signed at the International Travel Trade Show in Berlin, will involve some 33,000 travel agencies and means an investment by the Andalucian Government of some 1.2 million euros.

TUI, Europe's biggest tour operator, will be making Andalucia the central point of its new 'TUI Inside' promotion for the coming season, the first time that an autonomous region has been targeted in this way, as Luciano Alonso, Andalucia's Toursim Minister, explained in a press conference today.

The top 900 agents in a competition to know and sell Andalucia will win a trip to the region, comprising three days in Huelva and a day in Seville with excursions and fiestas included so they can see at first hand what the area has to offer.

This promotion, which has a budget of some 1.8 million euros, of which the regional Government will be providing 551.000 euros, will be complemented by a marketing campaign, 60,0000 copies of a summer brochure advertising the region, mass mailing to 20,000 TUI clients and a showcasing of the region in 7,000 agency windows.
