Algarve to get 8 more 5-star hotel properties

22nd April 2010: Algarve Property News

Eight brand new 5-star hotels will be opened in 2010 in the Algarve where there are already 15 five-star units. This represents an investment of more than 500 million EUR.

According to reports, 2 of the new hotels will be in Lagos (which does not have any hotels in this category), 2 will be in Albufeira and 1 will open in Lagoa, Portimao, Olhao and Loule.

The hotel in Loule has been confirmed as the Conrad Algarve Palacio da Quinta, which is actually categorized as a 6-star hotel.

Eliderico Viegas, head of the Algarve’s main tourism association AHETA (Regional Algarve Hotel and Tourist Resort Association), said that the hotels would “bring more balance to the region as well as making it more competitive”.
